The Philippines is adding an NBA player to its roster for the 2023 Basketball World Cup.
According to local sources, Jordan Clarkson 카지노(guard, 196 cm, 88 kg) of the Utah Jazz will play in the upcoming basketball World Cup.
Clarkson, a naturalized Filipino, will be playing in his first World Cup. After competing in the 2018 Asian Games, the Philippines has been far from successful in international competition. It did not make the national team for the 2019 Basketball World Cup and did not qualify for the 2020 Olympics.
This time around, the Philippines will be hosting the World Cup. Clarkson’s performance at the last Asian Games didn’t live up to expectations. He had been trying to make the Philippine national team before, but it didn’t work out. He would have loved to have been a part of Blatch, but it wasn’t to be. He also wanted to play in the Asia Cup, but was blocked by various systems and restrictions. They made a dramatic run at the Asian Games, but the Philippines was not at full strength.
The Philippines hosted the World Cup for only the second time since 1978 and the first time in the 21st century. It is co-hosting the tournament with Japan and Indonesia, but the Philippines is the main host and will host most of the matches and the final. The Philippines will be looking to improve on their top-20 finish and advance to the second round. With the addition of Clarkson, they are expected to be a focal point.
Clarkson had a breakout season last year. The Utes were looking to rebuild their team around younger players after their core was traded away. All of their starters from the previous season were sent to other organizations, but Clarkson stayed with the Utes. He had been a key sixth man for the Utes, but last season was the first time he was a full-time starter since the 2015-2016 season.
He played in 61 games, averaging 20.8 points (.444 .338 .816), four rebounds, and 4.4 assists in 32.6 minutes per game. It was the best year of his career, as he averaged over 20 points for the first time since entering the NBA. Despite being a starter for the first time in a long time, he anchored Utah’s offense well, serving as the de facto point guard. Utah even re-signed Clarkson to a three-year, $55 million extension this summer.
With Clarkson leading the way, the Philippines could make a run at the tournament. Clarkson will also be making his first appearance in front of Filipino fans since joining the national team. He will be joined by top prospects Kai Soto (Hiroshima) and Lens Abando (KGC). If Clarkson can anchor the team with his big game, they should be competitive.
The Philippines is in Group A of the first round of the tournament alongside Angola, the Dominican Republic, and Italy. Italy and the Dominican Republic are the favorites to advance to the second round. However, if Clarkson and Soto have a strong showing for the Philippines, they could be in contention for second place. If they make it to the second round, they’ll face whoever makes it through Group B (South Sudan, Serbia, China, and Puerto Rico).
