Steven Gerrard, 42, has become the highest paid footballer in the world.

The Sun published a ranking of the world’s football managers’ salaries on Thursday. Diego Simeone (Atletico Madrid) took the top spot with £30 million (about 50 billion won). Joseph Guardiola (£20 million ($33.3 billion), Manchester City) and Jürgen Klopp (£16 million ($26.7 billion), Liverpool), two of the Premier League’s highest paid managers, came in second and third.

Saudi Arabian club Al Ittifaq announced on Thursday that they have signed Gerrard on a two-year contract until 2025. Al Ittifaq chairman Khaled Al-Dabal personally signed the deal with Gerrard at a hotel in London, England.

Gerrard played 504 games for Liverpool between 1998 and 2015, scoring 120 goals. Despite never winning a Premier League title, the club honours him as a legend. After retirement, Gerrard turned to coaching, taking charge of Liverpool’s U17s in 2017. He went on to manage Scottish Rangers in 2018 and Aston Villa in 2021, but without much success.

Meanwhile, Juventus coach Massimiliano Allegri is fifth on the list with £11.3 million. In sixth place was Bayern Munich’s Thomas Tuchel (£10.6 million), who will coach Kim Min-jae. / Source.
