The referees for the FIFA U20 World Cup to be held in Argentina next month have been announced. In Korea, Kim Jong-hyeok (40) is the only referee invited to the U20 World Cup stage and participates as a video match official.
On the 21st, the FIFA Referees Committee unveiled 안전놀이터 a total of 81 referees who will participate in the upcoming U-20 Argentina World Cup. 25 referees, 38 assistant referees and 18 video match referees were appointed for this tournament.
In South Korea, referee Kim Jong-hyeok was named the video match official in charge of video review (VAR). He is a full-time referee of the K-League and an international referee.
“We are delighted to be able to host the FIFA U20 World Cup in Argentina,” said Pieruigi Collina, FIFA Referees’ President. “It will be a great venue for an important tournament.”
“I hope to see many talented players in Argentina take their careers to the next level following last year’s World Cup in Qatar,” he added.
Meanwhile, the FIFA U-20 World Cup will be held from May 20th to June 11th, with a total of 24 countries participating.
The Korean U20 national team led by coach Kim Eun-joong will also participate in this tournament, and the draw ceremony will be held at the FIFA headquarters in Zurich, Switzerland on the 21st.
Initially, the U20 World Cup was scheduled to be held in Indonesia in Southeast Asia, but due to complex circumstances such as political issues, the venue was suddenly changed to Argentina in South America.
