South Korea conceded two first-half goals to Iran in their Group B match on the eighth day of the 2023 AFC U-17 Asian Cup at Pathum Thani Stadium in Thailand on Sunday (Feb. 22).
South Korea, who had already qualified for the quarterfinals prior to the match, finished second in the group with two wins and one loss, behind Iran (two wins and one draw).
South Korea will host Thailand in the quarterfinals on Sept. 25. Thailand went 3-0 in Group A, defeating Laos, Malaysia, and Yemen.
Group B winner Iran will face Group A runner-up Yemen for a spot in the quarterfinals.

South Korea, coached by Byun Sung-hwan, will be looking for a return to the tournament after a 21-year absence since 2002, along with a spot at the FIFA U-17 World Cup in November, which is awarded to the top four nations in the tournament.
South Korea failed to reach the final at the last edition of the tournament in 2018 in Malaysia, losing to Tajikistan on penalties in the semifinals. Japan is seeking a second straight title.
The quarterfinal between Korea and Thailand will kick off at 11 p.m. local time on Aug. 25 at Pathum Thani Stadium.
Korea leads the all-time series against Thailand at the U-17 level with seven wins, one draw and one loss.
They also won 3-0 in an international friendly in Thailand in May this year. The only defeat came in an AFC U-16 qualifier in Bangkok, Thailand in 2007 (1-4).
